The UL
Mark is one of the most recognized, accepted and trusted symbols in the
world. It means that Underwriters Laboratories has tested samples of
products to safety requirements and conducts periodic checks of
manufacturers' facilities. Consumers
today are more informed than ever, and they understand that when it
comes to bringing products into their homes, safety cannot be taken for
granted. Shoppers are also keenly aware of value these days; and
whether they're walking the aisles at a mega-mall or surfing the
Internet for goods, they're looking to get the most for their money.
The UL Mark adds value to products and peace of mind to purchasing
decisions. UL Damp-location rating ensures the product is designed to operate safely in outdoor locations that are protected
from the direct elements, such as a porch. Damp-location rated products are
not designed to withstand constant or significant moisture.
UL Wet-location rating
can be used almost anywhere - on unprotected exterior walls, along a
garden path, atop columns or fence posts. Wet-location rated products are
designed to be reasonably watertight; they require a seal around the
base, canopy, or bracket to protect the electrical service from
moisture.
